On William the Conqueror

In this blog post I take a brief look at the life of William the Conqueror, a man who started life as the bastard son of a Norman duke and rose up to become the Duke of Normandy and later William I, King of England.
A man who is also my 31st great grandfather.

On King Alfred the Great

In this post I give a brief account of the only English king to be known as 'the Great'. A man who defended Wessex and the other Saxon kingdoms from Viking invasions, united the English and improved his kingdom’s legal and military systems, improved his people’s way of life and encouraged learning. A man you could call the father of the English nation.
A man I am proud to call my 35th great grandfather.
